Alexandra serves as a 6th grade Literacy and Social Studies teacher at Waltersville School in Bridgeport, Connecticut. In the 2019-2020 academic year, she was awarded the Theordore and Margaret Beard Excellence in Teaching Award. The Theodore and Margaret Beard Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes individual teachers whose light shines bright, especially those who: engage, inspire, and motivate students to achieve academic excellence and use creative instructional strategies and effective classroom management skills.

In her current role, she has helped the middle school team implement the Middle School Kindness Challenge, a nationwide initiative that fosters kindness and improves the school climate in the critical middle school years. She was also a part of starting the RULER Ambassador program in her school. This program helps to promote Social Emotional awareness within the student body through students who are trained in the skills and tools to resolve conflicts, defuse incidents, and support isolated and excluded students.

Along with SEL (Social Emotional Learning) initiatives she is an integral part of her school, having co-directed the school’s annual Spring Musical and creating and implementing staff PDs over the last 10 years.
